Does Google know who you are?

Getting your website or blog noticed more quickly on Google and Yahoo without paying for the privilege!

The holy grail of getting visitors to your website or blog is a good placing on the major search engines.

So you’ve made your killer website or written an irresistible blog. One of the things you should do by default is to add the urls to Google and Yahoo and they both have processes for doing this. Maybe you’ve done it many times.

However, with billions of web pages worldwide to index, it could take up to six months to get noticed. Don’t get me wrong; it’s still worth doing, as patience plays a part in succeeding in online businesses.

You will see plenty of ads from organisations pledging to get you a high placing on Google and Yahoo if you’re willing to part with hard-earned cash. I cannot comment on the success or otherwise as I have never been able to afford them.

There is one way to draw your site to the attention of the big boys.

Have you ever noticed that both Google and Yahoo urge you to personalise their pages? This is well worth doing because as well as useful gadgets like a calendar and the local weather both have a facility to ‘add content’.
This is where you can place links to your favourite websites – and your own is likely to be your very favourite, right?

Now when those busy little spiders scuttle off to index sites, guess whose sites they go to first? That’s right, their own, naturally, and now you’ve personalised your page by adding a link to your site(s), it’s one of theirs. Welcome to the family!

I used this method for my websites and blog and am always smugly satisfied by being on the top ten of the Google Search pages.

It costs nothing except your time and effort – those are the tips I enjoy best.
